Vietnamese Style Sour Soup with Shrimp Recipe

February 12, 2012
By

Somlaw Machue Youn is what this is called in Khmer. Here is a Cambodian take on a Vietnamese popular soup “Canh Chua Tom”. Light and refreshing but yet full of flavors. A great way to eat your vegetables. You can also use fish, chicken, or pork ribs. Meats take a longer time to cook so you would want to brown them and cook it from the beginning before adding vegetables. For the written recipe check out my website. khatiya-korner.com

I dont understand why ppl always gotta be so stupid. No two person cooks alike. So if its not your liking or what you are accustomed to, don’t watch the tutorial. Lame.

I believe that Vietnamese sour shimp or fish soup does not have eggs. However if the creator likes to add quail eggs, that’s fine. Every else is correct, except I would put shrimp and bean sprout last because shrimp cook very fast. If you put them in early, they will be hard. Anyway this is a good bowl of soup right here

This looks very good. I must try it next. Tonight I am making Asian BlackBean Chicken for the 5th time. I just get better and better at it. This take chicken leg quarters to a new and exciting level. I use the thighs only and save the legs fer the Barby. I chopped the thighs to get the flavors. I fry the marinated chicken and add it into another pot with aeromatics and black beans. Awesome!
